Medical Disclaimer
Everything on Diabetes Blogs is general information. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace your doctor, diabetes care and education specialist, dietitian or pharmacist.
- No diagnosis. Our calculators convert numbers and compare them with published ranges. Only a laboratory blood test ordered by a clinician can diagnose diabetes or prediabetes.
- Your targets may differ. Published goals are general. Your care team may set different targets for you based on your age, health, pregnancy and medicines.
- No treatment or dosing. We do not provide insulin or medicine dosing tools, and nothing here tells you to start, stop or change a medicine or a diet. Talk to your care team first.
- Estimates are estimates. An estimated average glucose calculated from an A1C is a population average, not your daily readings.
- Emergencies. If you think you or someone else is having a medical emergency, call 911. Do not wait for a website.
We link to official sources and date every page, but medical guidance changes. Check the date, and check with your care team. See our editorial policy for how we choose and review sources.
